In addition to accessing drum sounds and samples, the controller can also control virtual synthesizers and effects, trigger loops and video clips, and even act as transport controls for DAW software programs. The controller is ideal for creating natural, organic sounding drum beats. Each of the 16 pads can be individually assigned a note number and MIDI channel allowing you to control a single drum kit, or map it to control different devices in your setup at the same time.
Eight different dynamic curves are available for each padontrol, or you can set each pad to its own fixed level.
The X-Y pad adds real-time control of both flam and roll timing and dynamics. Moving a finger from left to right increases the speed of the roll, or the distance between the notes, while moving up the pad surface increases the volume of the roll, or the volume of ,org second note in the flam.
With the addition of an optional footswitch you can add real kick drum parts, or close an open hi-hat. No Longer Available Update Location close. Enter new zip code to refresh estimated delivery time. Update Unrecognized Zip Code. They should really have that option as a controller or Korg making a mapped pack for that controller Still haven’t been able to get sound from Korg Kontrol Editor.
Don’t know if I’m suppose to be able to? Pads are very nice, great feel. Somewhat less ‘solid’ that I’d prefer, but great nevertheless. The USB cord included sticks out from padkontrok back of the unit entirely to far.

I teach private reason and protools lessons with a main focus towards controlerism. I’ve had an m-audio trigger finger for several years and have been satisfied with it but not blown away. Rated 3 out of 5 by John Bonnell from Mostly great, but hard to set up For the money, it’s hard to beat.
And it generally works fine for tapping out things. Setting it up is fraught with problems though. Even using it without setting up often requires a trip to the manual. Sometimes it just doesn’t seem to want to do what it’s supposed to. A well documented problem is the octave shift in its midi numbering.
So it can be ppadkontrol troublesome to program, since middle C is not likely to be what your DAW expects. I padkonteol haven’t managed to get some of the functions to work as expected.
Another point to note is that it won’t pass midi signals through the midi port without external power, which it does not include. If I were needing another device like this, I would get something else. Best to avoid all of the cheap Korg products. Rated 4 out of 5 by D Witt from Solid Controller I’ve owned this little guy for a few years now and it’s still holding up strong. The thing I like about this controller compared to other pad controllers on the market is the sensitivity. You don’t have to mash the thing to padkojtrol a note to register.

Definately read the manual as soon as you get it. If you do that programing it to the software you’re using should be a sinch. Another thing that is great is that the controller actually can show up as two seperate controllers on your computer.
This is a plus lorg using it with multiple softwares at the same time. For example, I use it to control both Traktor Pro 2 and Ableton Live simultaniously by assigning the pads for different midi inputs. The footpedal input is assignable! The main con that I’ve come across is when you’re jamming a little too hard you’ll sometimes get crosstalk between the pads, but for that to happen you have to really hit a pad excessively hard.
Overall I love this thing and pad, ontrol definately recomend it. First off, the item came to me in almost perfect condition, I could not see too much wear and tear on the product To my chagrin, it is not. Mapping the controller to DAW’s outside the presets that were given is almost to impossible. If you have Windows 7 32 or 64 bit don’t be fooled by the default drivers assigned to this device, they are BAD.
Install the ones provided by the software.

Once you do get it to work, it’s great, but it’s not a out-of-the-box-fuzzy experience. In addition I was assured that software would be provided with this unit, it was not. I had to get the basic stuff off the Korg Site, but the promised software that one would need to get any kind of use out of this unit was not included.
